Minister denies FG scrapping NECO, JAMB

The Minister of State for Education, Nyeson Wike, has denied the Federal Government scrapping of NECO and JAMB sequel to a recent report which generated mixed reactions amidst stating that the recommendations as contained in the Steve Oransaye report had been adopted.
Mr. Wike made the disclosure during a meeting with the Senate Committee on Education, Thursday, in Abuja.

Dangote to build $8bn oil refinery in Nigeria

Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, plans to invest up to $8bn to build a Nigerian oil refinery with a capacity of around 400,000 barrels a day by late 2016, the tycoon told Reuters on Tuesday.

This will almost double Nigeria’s current refining capacity.

“This will really help not only Nigeria but sub-Saharan Africa. There has not been a new refinery for a long time in sub-Saharan Africa,” Dangote said in a telephone interview.

Famous Pastor and Author Rick Warren's son commits Suicide

Matthew Warren, the youngest son of Saddleback Valley Community Church pastor Rick Warren has committed suicide after a long battle with mental illness.  has committed suicide.

The Southern California church headed by popular evangelical Pastor Rick Warren announced Saturday 6th April, that Warren’s 27-year-old son took his own life Friday night after battling with mental illness for years which resulted in deep depression and suicidal thoughts.

Warren, the author of the multimillion-selling book “The Purpose Driven Life,” said in an email to church staff that he and his wife had enjoyed a fun Friday evening with their son before Matthew Warren returned home to take his life in “a momentary wave of despair.”

The Deputy Governor of Ekiti state, Mrs Olufunmilayo Adunni Olayinka is dead.
She passed away after a battle with cancer.
A statement signed by the state’s Commissioner for Information; Tayo Ekundayo, announced the demise of Mrs Olayinka, late Saturday night.

May her soul rest in peace (Amen).

Team Nigeria wins 1st African Youth Athletic Championships "Warri 2013"

Team Nigeria has ones again proof to the other African countries that Nigeria is truly the "Giant of Africa" after it hosted and won the 1st African Youth Athletic Championships "Warri 2013". Nigeria came out first today out of about 27 countries that participated in the competition with a total number of 35 medal (13 Gold, 10 Sliver and 12 Bronze), Egypt came second with 8 Gold, 6 Sliver, 2 Bronze, while Ethiopia picked 6 Gold, 16 Sliver and 6 Bronze to occupy the third position seat.

The African Youth Athletics Championship Warri 2013 got off to a great start yesterday as athletes form Egypt, Kenya and Nigeria proved their worth beyond any doubt to record their nationals on the top of the medals table.

Egypt  - 1 Gold and 1 Silver
Kenya - 1 Gold and 1 Silver
Nigeria - 1 Gold and 1Bronze
Ethiopia   - 1 Silver and 1 Bronze
Republic of Benin - 1 Bronze
